Digital X-Rays

Digital X-Rays, state-of-the-art advance in dentistry.

For the first time in the 100-year history of dental X-rays (radiography), an extraordinary new technology surpasses the diagnostic abilities of traditional film-and it does so with substantially less radiation exposure to you--and us. This system has truly amazing diagnostic tools making the image quality simply unmatched

Digital X-Rays

Each Examination room is equipped with a television, DVD Player and computer. With the use of educational DVD’s we can help you the patient better understand dental health conditions. The patients x-rays are digital and are displayed on the computer monitor. Until recently, our only option when taking X-rays was to place a film packet in your mouth and, using a traditional dental X-ray machine, expose the film packet, then wait up to 10 minutes for it to develop. With digital radiography, the process is computerized. The digital image also helps the staff better diagnose your dental health. Since it is a computer image, it can be made larger, enhanced, and even colorized. The digital system also can zoom in on problem areas. There are imaging tools built into the software that improve the analysis of the images. This is not possible with traditional film x-rays. You get more information with less radiation. The process helps educate patients.

We can very easily show patients problems that they may be having with their teeth. It's easy to show these using a digital X-ray, whereas with film it's harder for the patients to see anything. Being able to blow up the images, show them in color or reverse the black and white fields so the patient can understand the problem is a tremendous advantage.

We place a sensor next to your tooth, and within seconds your X-ray is displayed in sharp, vivid detail on a computer screen. Because of this short exposure time, the amount of X-ray radiation is reduced by a considerable amount, as much as 40-50 percent.

Once the X-ray image is on our computer screen, we can enhance it to make a more precise diagnosis. We can save images on our computer for instant retrieval; we can easily send them to insurance companies or specialists, as needed.
